Spirulina Oat FlapJacks


These sweet green flapjacks are a step up from your normal oat flap jacks. They are so satisfying and are full of great nutrients for your body. These Spirulina Oat flapjacks are a great way of sneaking in some amazing vitamins and minerals from the great superfood that Spirulina is. For those of you that haven't heard of Spirulina, it is and algae that is packed full of protein and is an excellent source of vitamins such as A, K1, K2 and the important B12 and is a rich source of health-giving phytonutrients.This amazing superfood can be found at most health stores.

These are easy to prepare and cook super fast as well. They are light, fluffy and are for sure going to leave you feeling so satisfied and full.

For this recipe you are going to need:

A mixing bowl

A mixing spoon

A cup

A frying pan

A tablespoon

A teaspoon

Makes: 6 flapjacks

Time: 10 Minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup oats

  • 1 teaspoon Spirulina

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • 1 ½ cups water

  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil for frying(optional)

Directions:

  1. Blend the oats until they are as fine as flour.

  2. In a mixing bowl, mix all of your dry ingredients.

  3. Add in the water and mix until you have a thick pancake mixture.

  4. Heat the coconut oil in the frying pan on medium heat.

  5. Scoop ¼ cup of the mixture into the frying pan.

  6. Cook for about 1 minute until bubbles start to form and then flip and cook for a further minute or so.

  7. Cook the rest of the mixture.

  8. Serve with your favourite toppings from fruit, granola, coconut cream, nice cream, home made chocolate sauce or maple syrup and enjoy.
