Ingredients for baklava:
1 pack of phyllo pastry cut into the shape of your baking dish
250g of mixed nuts roasted and salted or raw
1/2 cup of vegan butter melted
2/3 cup of maple syrup
2/3 cup of choc chips
Syrup:
1 cup of sugar
1/4 cup of water
2 tablespoons of Lemon juice

Directions:
Place your oven to 180°C to preheat while you prepare your baklava.
Roll out your thawed phyllo pastry and slice it into the shape of your dish
Chop your nuts finely.
Melt your vegan butter.
Using a brush, spread some butter on the bottom of this dish and place the first 2/3 layers of phyllo pastry. Top with another spear of butter.
Sprinkle about 1/4 cup of nuts and a few choc chips.
Repeat with another 2/3 layers of phyllo pastry until all your ingredients are finished.
Place a final piece of phyllo pastry for the top layer and place it in the oven to bake for 20-22 minutes.
Once your baklava has baked for half time you can start with the syrup.
Add all your ingredients for your syrup into a little saucepan and place on the stove on medium to high heat until your sugar has dissolved.
Remove your baklava from the oven when finished baking and slice. Pour your syrup over while it is still hot.
Allow it to soak up the syrup and cool slightly before serving. Enjoy 🌿
