Vegan Cheese Sauce


Vegan Cheese Sauce perfect for Mac & cheese or Lasagne


You will need:

  • Pot

  • Pan

  • Sharp Knife

  • Measuring spoons

  • 15 minutes

  • Serves 4


Ingredients:

  • 2 Onions diced

  • 1 teaspoon of coconut oil or sub for water

  • 1/2 teaspoon of Italian herbs

  • 1/2 teaspoon of Marmite spread

  • 1/2 teaspoon of your favourite mustard(I used English)

  • 1 Teaspoon of Tahini

  • 1 Can of coconut cream or milk

  • 2 Tablespoons of lemon juice

  • salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 heaped teaspoon of tapioca flour or corn flour

  • 1/4 cup of water

  • 1 handful of small cherry tomatoes


Directions:

  1. Heat up the oil in your pan on medium to high heat. Add the onion and fry until golden.

  2. Once your onions have cooked remove from the heat.

  3. Place the onions, seasonings, coconut cream, Marmite, mustard, tahini and lemon juice in a blender and blend until smooth.

  4. Place the cheese sauce in your pot on medium to high heat. Bring to boil. Mix the water with the tapioca flour and add to the cheese sauce. Turn the heat down and cook the sauce until it thickens.

  5. Use for Mac n cheese or lasagne! Sprinkle with some more Italian herbs and salt and pepper to taste and enjoy!
